So Many Ways to Give

One-Time Donation

Monetary donations are the heartbeat of our organization - the funds that allow us to help so many lives. If you want to join Mirriam’s team, make a donation. Every dollar helps.

Recurring Donations

Spread the love all year long! Consider making a recurring donation. Options include monthly, quarterly, or annually. Many consider setting up monthly recurring gifts as the easiest way to ensure support for the programs they care about. We’re especially grateful for this kind of on-going commitment!

IRA Distributions

You may be eligible to request a Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD) from your IRA to go directly to HealthEd Connect. And beginning in the year you turn 72, you may also use your gift to satisfy all or part of your required minimum distribution (RMD). Please consult your IRA custodian for assistance in putting your retirement earnings into action empowering others today!

Honorary Donations

Birthdays, Mother’s Day, Memorial tributes, and many other occasions are a perfect opportunity to honor someone special, while uplifting the lives of women and children. Please keep this in mind as various milestones occur in your life.

Employer Matching

There are a good number of people work for generous employers who match their employees’ donations. You can make double the impact that way! Check to see if your employer has a matching program.

Planned Giving

We understand the value of having a good plan to support your mission and the people you care about. By including HealthEd Connect in your will or estate plans, transferring assets through a charitable gift annuity, establishing a charitable trust, or giving through a donor-advised fund, you uplift our efforts to empower women and children today, and for generations to come. Please consult your financial advisor, or call us today, to include HealthEd Connect in your plans.

Other Ways to Support

Local Volunteerism

While HealthEd Connect’s programs are led by people indiginous to their communities, we also rely on volunteers willing to offer support in uplifting our mission. From sorting through 400 pounds of soccer equipment for children in our programs to preparing Christmas cards for mailing, local volunteers make big projects possible for our small but mighty team. Contact us if you’d like to volunteer!

Birthday Celebrations

Would you rather send a little girl to school and change her life forever than receive another item you didn’t really need? Michael Lewis did just that for his birthday! He organized a campaign among his friends and family to donate to the Girls Achievement Program (GAP) in lieu of birthday gifts. The GAP program encourages young girls and their caregivers to keep the girls in school through 12th grade. He challenged them to give $1 for every year of his age and offered to match the total.

Marathons

Kelsey Novelli, Callie Striech, Andrew Murphy, and Jeff Manuel spent months training and running marathons to raise funds and spread the word about HealthEd Connect. They may have ended up with sore feet and tired muscles but they unquestionably had the satisfaction of knowing they made a huge difference providing access to health and education for women and vulnerable children.

Jewelry Parties

We’d love to send you a kit to sponsor a party that supports our health workers and schools. Hand-crafted, unique, and sustainable items, such as recycled paper-bead jewelry and cloth bags, are produced by our amazing health workers as an income generating activity. Working cooperatively, this endeavor supports not only their own families, but also the community schools and health worker programs.

Student Collaborations

Teaching & Building Leaders

Teams of Graceland University ENACTUS students have given their time in the summer to travel to Zambia and donate themselves! They have helped teach math in the classroom, researched and presented income-generating projects, and organized youth recreation. They also taught financial literacy for caregivers and children, all while distributing tons of hugs and bushels of smiles!

Teams of students and faculty members from the Graceland University School of Education have also traveled to Zambia to provide professional development for teachers in our schools. A win-win for SOE students and students at our schools, academic credit was awarded to Graceland students as school children got to experience the latest in educational methods and enthusiasm!

For-Credit Internships

College of William and Mary and Harvard University students have partnered with HealthEd Connect for research-centered internships! HealthEd Connect is happy to partner with under and post-grad students on their research projects— from health worker retention to the impact of girls’ education and beyond!
